Art in the mall is a winner

The exhibition is open daily during normal shopping hours at Southcoast Mall.

The Easter art exhibition currently on in the food court of the Southcoast Mall, in aid of animal cancer research, has proven to be popular with locals and holidaymakers alike.

Johann du Toit, who organised the event on behalf of the local art club, Art by the Sea, says that they exceeded their expectations.

Minutes after the official opening last Thursday, the first painting was sold.

Since then, there has been a constant flow of paintings finding their forever homes.
Prospective buyers returned to acquire specific paintings they had seen earlier, only to find them sold.

Madeleine Pretorius, provincial director of SA Animal Cancer Association KZN, has expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the artists as well as the public for supporting and buying paintings.

She says that much-needed awareness was raised with this event. The funds raised are allocated for research towards cancer and dread disease in animals at Onderstepoort Veterinary Clinic, which works hand-in-hand with the UP Oncology Department in understanding cancer in both animals and humans.

The exhibition is open daily during normal shopping hours for the full duration of the Easter holiday season until Saturday, April 6.
