Gemma raises funds for hospice

Her dedication to this cause is unwavering, driven by a deep personal connection and a desire to make a difference.

Gemma Allchin, a Grade 11 learner at Creston College, is making waves both in and out of the pool.
Recently appointed as an ambassador for South Coast Hospice, Gemma embarked on a personal outreach initiative to raise funds for the organisation.

In memory of her late grandfather, who battled cancer and died two years ago, Gemma committed to swimming 100km over three months, aiming to raise R50 000. To date, Gemma has raised R51 796.

Her dedication to this cause is unwavering, driven by a deep personal connection and a desire to make a difference. Beyond her philanthropic efforts, Gemma’s swimming prowess has also attracted attention.

She and her schoolmates, along with Beatrice King, were at the Southcoast Mall selling cupcakes and had an Easter raffle last Saturday morning.

They also sold knitted teddies and ducklings to contribute towards the fundraiser.
Gemma said she was very grateful to everyone who helped and contributed.
