Cops make South Coast proud

Men and women were awarded for safe guarding their communities.

Dedicated men and women in blue from the Ugu District were awarded at the recent Saps National Excellence Awards held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Gauteng.

The Saps presented awards to deserving members in over 60 categories, who consistently went and continue to go above and beyond the call of duty to safeguard the citizens of South Africa.

Ugu was represented by:
Sergeant Thembeka Magubane of Saps Southport was the proud receiver of her award in her category: visible policing and operations employee.
Sergeant Kethukuthula Nkomo of K9 Port Shepstone was the winner in the category: high risk member of the year.

Captain Mandla Chiya of K9 Port Shepstone was runner-up in the category: medium risk member of the year.
The Port Shepstone Search and Rescue Unit, represented by Warrant Officer Fafa Pretorius, received the runner-up award in the category of medium risk team.

The purpose of the awards is to recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions of members and personnel who consistently display exceptional dedication to their roles and tirelessly fight against all forms of criminal activity, ensuring safer communities.
