Help Miss Kitty collect cat food

For her birthday, Bella wants cat food and... her credit cleared.

Cat-crazy Bella Tia Hogendoorn (13), fondly known as Miss Kitty, is hand painting rocks to be able to collect cat food, to feed the feral cats in Margate.

Most recently, on Valentine’s Day a rather intriguing game of hide-and-seek occurred where Bella was photographed at various places, and then the clues as to where the rocks could be hidden were posted on social media.

Bella turns 14 on March 11, and the RT Rock Chix group consisting of Bella, her mother Tammy and Tammy’s sister-in-law Rae Hogendoorn are going to do another fun ‘rock drop’ in and around Southbroom, Margate, Lucien and Uvongo on March 9 and 10.

The new batch of rocks for the next ‘rock hunt’ on March 9 and 10.

In exchange, Bella’s birthday wish is…cat food.

“Bella has always been cat-crazy but this situation breaks her heart. I’m hoping that all her efforts and determination can be rewarded with donations of cat food. Please support this cause and help us feed our hungry cats,” said Tammy.

The family moved from Hillcrest to the coast in September last year, and is blown away with the wonderful community in Margate.

“Bella noticed the stray cats immediately and we have been feeding them,” said Tammy.

She walks and feeds them everyday in Forest Drive and along the beach end at Aloe Lane in Margate. She also feeds them at Uvongo and Margate feeding stations if she has enough food left over.

“Bella has quickly learned about credit as she has already used up all her pocket money until June, to buy cat food. All her savings and her Christmas money have gone on cat food. Even this has proven to be not nearly enough,” said Tammy.

RT Rock Chix is also offering to paint rocks to any specifications in exchange for any size bag of cat pellets.
