Church set for centenary celebration

The centenary celebration will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The South Coast community is invited to join the centenary celebration of the Port Shepstone Dutch Reformed Church this weekend.

Celebrating its 100-year anniversary of recognition as a congregation, the centenary will be held in Church Street, Port Shepstone, from Friday, February 23 to Sunday, February 25.

It will embody the theme of the ‘God of yesterday, today and tomorrow’, therefore celebrating the past, present and future of the congregation and its devotion to Christianity.

This theme also celebrates the history of the church and reflects on the struggles faced during the last century.
The ‘God of yesterday’ will be celebrated with the church’s previous ministers visiting and reflecting on the history of the Port Shepstone Dutch Reformed Church on Friday, February 23, starting at 18:00.

The God of today’ will be celebrated with a focus on social activity, with a fun walk and tea garden, on Saturday, February 24, from 08:00.

The ‘God of tomorrow’ will be celebrated with the unveiling of a granite cross which signifies the new era of Christianity of the church, on Sunday, February 25, from 08:30.

The Port Shepstone Dutch Reformed Church is proudly supportive of many local initiatives and has become a religious landmark on the South Coast.
