Distinctions for Margate matriculant

Matthew van Rooyen graduated with flying colours from Maritzburg College.

Matthew van Rooyen from Margate graduated from Maritzburg College with seven distinctions, placed third in his grade and received the Colenbrander Accounts prize.

During his matric year, Matthew also received full academic colours, was awarded a merit certificate and the prize for Business Studies.

Furthermore, he was a prefect, chairman of the Speakers Circle and captain of Forder House, which illustrates his leadership skills.

Matthew participated in many social activities and received the Calder Trophy for public speaking, as well as being a devoted member of the choir.

A dedicated sportsman, he played for the second team waterpolo squad and third team rugby.
He is described as a dedicated and focused young man with great aspirations for the future. He is also recognised for being a devout Christian, a quality re-enforced by the Christian ethos of Maritzburg College.

Matthew is currently studying Chartered Accounting at Stellenbosch University and has clear goals of maintaining his academic excellence.
