Top achiever Daisy studies medicine at UCT

Daisy, originally from Trafalgar and raised in Umtentweni, attended Izotsha Primary School.

Former South Coaster, Daisy Pybus matriculated at Crawford International North Coast with eight distinctions, and an outstanding 95% aggregate in the 2023 exams.
Daisy graduated at the top of her grade and was in the top 1% of IEB learners in five subjects.

Originally from Trafalgar and raised in Umtentweni, she attended Izotsha Primary.
One of Daisy’s most significant achievements was receiving a scholarship to Crawford, where she was Dux. She also placed as the second highest achiever in all Advtech schools, from a cohort of around 1 800 learners.

At Crawford, she was the judiciary (equivalent of a head student) of the Student Learner Body and captained the first team girls’ hockey. Despite her focus on science-based subjects, Daisy was also awarded Performer of the Year at the valedictory ceremony and maintains a love for drama.

Outside of academia and sports, Daisy also spearheaded a mental health project known as Crawford Calm, as well as being on the executive committee of the school’s community service club.
Daisy recalled the teaching styles and culture departments as key elements of her interest in Crawford, where she also spoke highly of her boarding experience.

Daisy’s achievements, as well as her passion for helping others, paved the way for her entry into medicine, which she is currently studying at the University of Cape Town. She hopes to achieve her BSc Honours and PHD through their intercalated programme in years to come.

Although an invincible academic achiever, Daisy has been challenged with Lyme disease and other chronic illnesses, which she attributes as major motivators to excel.
