DA leader visits voter registration stations

DA KZN leader Francois Rodgers said that in the past a person could vote at any voting station, but now things are done differently.

The KZN DA leader, Francois Rodgers, visited voter registration stations on the South Coast last Sunday morning.
Rodgers started his visit in Ramsgate, and popped in at various voting stations.
“It was to make sure that everything was up and running, the IEC was functioning and doing what it was supposed to be doing.”

He said he was delighted that at two of the voting stations, first-time voters registered, and some came in to check if they are registered in the correct voting district.
According to Rodgers, previously a person could vote at any voting station, but now things are done differently.
He said service delivery challenges are of importance at the moment.

“Whether I am in eThekwini Municipality or Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM), the challenge is the same. eThekwini is now experiencing water-related issues, something RNM has been experiencing for years. People are without water for days, weeks and in some cases it’s months, and clearly the ANC run municipalities do not have the capacity to change this situation.”

He said the DA has set its target on the number of people who are registering to vote for the party and that they have already reached it, and is out-registering the ANC in terms of their own records.
Rodgers also had a message for the young people.

“If young people are educated and feel frustrated, it does not help to sit at home. You need to get registered and be part of change. These elections are as important as the 1994 elections.”
