Invest SA KZN, in partnership with the provincial Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs and South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise (SCTIE), organised a One Stop Shop (OSS) workshop for Ugu District investors in Port Shepstone on Tuesday last week.
The OSS initiative, launched in four locations, assists investors in navigating regulatory requirements.
The facility in Ugu, which is yet to be officially opened, offers support services for company registrations, visas, permits, and licences.
SCTIE CEO, Phelisa Mangcu emphasised the importance of the OSS initiative in promoting ease of doing business in the region. It was initiated after a survey was conducted whether physical OSS services was needed on the South Coast as currently it’s available virtually.
“Overall it will improve business efficiency, reduce red tape and connect investors with the right people. It will support investors with compliance, promotion, facilitation, location analysis, and after-care services, offering business incentives and grant information.”
Ray Nkonyeni Municipality’s deputy mayor, Sibusiso Shange said the initiative will provide comprehensive services for investors, as the South Coast has many opportunities.
Ndumiso Mlambo, general manager at Trade and Investment KZN, hopes that Ugu District uses the OSS centre to achieve its mandate as it will work with municipalities to ensure easy accessibility of resources for investors.
The workshop was attended by local SMMEs, iThala Bank, Small Enterprise Development Agency, and business owners in the hospitality and tourism sectors.
