Skills centre addition for CS Learning

The centre thanked the community for its acceptance, love and support over the last 10 years and hopes it can continue to support and serve each other for the next decade.

After much prayer, planning, and hard work the leadership at CS Learning Centre, situated on the Norwegian Settlers Church property, is excited to announce the opening of CS Skills Centre this January.

CS Learning Centre was registered as an NPO in 2013, as a school dedicated to providing inclusive and multi-faceted education to children with autism spectrum disorder and significant developmental delays.

It opened its doors to its first pupils in January 2014, almost 10 years ago and has been so blessed to be celebrating this significant milestone with the next phase of the school.

The new skills centre will focus on meeting the needs of young people, from 12/13 years of age, who have significant barriers to learning and require a pre-vocational education.

The centre’s mission is to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary for self-fulfillment, and meaningful participation in society.

The aim is to provide a quality, standardised general education, develop their personality, talents, and creativity to help them become more independent and prepare them for life after school.

Using symbols and signing during all classroom activities.

As the school embarks on this new chapter it will continue to strive to offer every child the opportunity to develop to his/her full potential and to provide a safe and effective learning environment for learners with developmental delays to minimise their disability and maximise their abilities.

The centre thanked the community for its acceptance, love and support over the last 10 years and hopes it can continue to support and serve each other for the next decade.

Subjects offered will be according to the SA Department of Education’s Differentiated Curriculum and Assessment Policy (DCAPS), and the practical subjects, including hospitality studies, office administration, agricultural studies and maintenance.

Admission requirements: 12 years and older, intellectual or physical disability, learners with barriers to learning including but not limited to ASD, ADD, ADHD, aphasia and anxiety disorders, as well as learners who are unable to meet the admissions criteria of a mainstream school.
