Sand sculptures mesmerise beachgoers

The talented men have travelled from St Lucia to work in Scottburgh.

Innocent Zungu and Brian Lenbede have been making their ‘sand’ mark in the mid-South Coast.
These talented men have been making sculptures at Scottburgh main beach for the past several days, and their work has been described by many as ‘simply incredible’.

Last week, they sculptured a magnificent sandcastle and Jesus Christ on the cross in celebration of Christmas.
Their hard work at the beach is to put smiles on people’s faces and they gladly accept tips to encourage them to continue doing what they love.

They travelled all the way from St Lucia to share their sand skills and are grateful for the amazing support they’ve received from Scottburgh locals and holidaymakers so far.

Besides working on their sand art during the day, the men pull all-nighters at the beach to ensure that no one destroys their sculptures.

“On one of the nights a group of people tried to stomp on our sculptures, but luckily we were here to protect our work,” said Innocent.

Innocent has been making sand sculptures for 22 years and has become well-known for his art across KZN.

“We hope that people continue supporting us over the festive season and that everyone has a blessed new year.”
