Gifts for vulnerable children

The programme was well organised by social workers and proved to be enjoyable and fun.

Nearly 60 children attended the Child Welfare Port Shepstone Santa Shoebox programme held at St Martin de Porres last Saturday.
It was held for orphans and vulnerable children in the community.

The programme was well organised by social workers and proved to be enjoyable and fun.
Cindy Marais, chairperson for Child Welfare Port Shepstone, thanked all the sponsors, in particular Sandy Moodley for the Santa shoe boxes, as well as the school for the use of its premises.

Lending a hand are (from left) Amanda Dladla, Slu Maluleka, Khanyi Mazibuka, Nokthula Soni and Dayna Naidoo.

“It goes without saying that a successful day of this kind is not achievable without our community assistance,” said Cindy.

“At this time of year, we are faced with many needy families and food is currently our greatest challenge. We appeal to the community for donations of non-perishable items.”

A trolley is available at Harbourview Superspar or you could drop off at the welfare office in Connor Street, Port Shepstone.

Youngsters look forward to receiving a gift.
