It’s Mardi Gras time!

Be there for the festivities this Sunday.

The countdown is on for this year’s Scottburgh Mardi Gras and the town is already filled with much joy and excitement.

Scott Street will be booming this Sunday, December 17 from 09:00 to 17:00 with over 100 stalls. There will be great food, handmade crafts, bric and brac, Christmas hampers, toys and so much more.

While browsing the stalls and enjoying the stellar line up of entertainment, a kiddie zone will be available for your little ones to keep busy with cupcake icing, sand art, face painting, jungle gyms and jumping castles.

There will also be a beauty contest for all ages: toddlers, teens, adults, Mr and Mrs Scottburgh, couples and grannies.
People may also participate in a fun eggnog walk competition.

Ready for Mardi Gras festivities are (from left) Alex Clarke (DJ), Keith Weston (Lions Club vice president), Liezel Jooste (majorette performer), Lorna Thomson (organiser), Nibia Canovi (assistant organiser), Calisra Jooste (majorette performer) and Colleen Brown (Lions Club).

And what is a Christmas Mardi Gras without Santa Claus of course? Everyone will have the opportunity to pay Santa a visit and get a snap with him.

It doesn’t end there… There will be some great music throughout the day, majorette dancing and even a demonstration by Crocworld Conservation Centre for all the reptile lovers.

Scottburgh’s first Mardi Gras was held in 1993, and in the words of the event organiser Lorna Thomson, it breathes life into the town and brings the community together.

This family event has so much to offer and will surely have something for everyone. Be sure to save the date for this amazing Lions Club fundraiser. You don’t want to miss out!
