Donate used car seats at Renault dealerships

Barry van Rooyen, sales manager of the two local branches of Renault (based in Port Shepstone and Shelly Beach), said it was a fantastic project and encouraged the community to support it in whatever way possible.

Child safety in vehicles has come under the spotlight, thanks to an initiative run by non-profit company, Wheel Well.

“Every child that dies is one child too many, and Wheel Well will not rest until it has done everything in its power to reduce the death toll of children on South African roads,” says Wheel Well.

The project incorporates a number of companies, including Renault, which locally falls under the Thompson Motors banner.

You can play your part by donating any used car-seats and keeping children safe.

Barry van Rooyen, sales manager of the two local branches of Renault (based in Port Shepstone and Shelly Beach), said it was a fantastic project and encouraged the community to support it in whatever way possible.

“We are a drop-off point. You can bring your car seats that you no longer use or need. These will be collected by Renault SA and sent off to be cleaned, refurbished or upholstered. So, don’t think the seat is too old,” he said.

“The idea of using Renault as a drop-off point is to create visibility and awareness. We are the go-to guy.”
Wheel Well has gained expert knowledge in child road safety through hands-on experience.
Its focus is on impact, not profit.

It offers a variety of services, including car seat cleaning and car seat clinic for parents, to provide them with unbiased advice.

Wheel Well’s projects for child pedestrians have multiple benefits, including education, literacy, and leadership skills.

It advocates for changes in legislation and post-crash care to improve child road safety.
