South Coasters are certainly a community that knows how to ‘pay it forward’!
This was evident at the recent fundraiser held for Rodney ‘Pod’ Pretorius (48) from Tweni, who is fighting a rare disease, scleroderma.
Young and old supported the ‘Pod’s Fundraiser Day’, held at Port Shepstone Country Club, by playing either cricket, bowls, golf or Padel.
Rodney thanked everyone who attended, saying he was blown away by the love and support he has received.
His sister, Melanie King, said it’s been astounding to see how the people of the South Coast have rallied together.
“Rodney, wife Jessica and daughter Megan are a very special family who have been dealing with health issues for close on 10 years,” she said.
Melanie said this year has been a huge challenge for them, as well as their family and for Rodney’s countless friends.
The family greatly appreciates the months of organising and the wide variety of ways the community and friends have raised funds for their much loved ‘Pod’.
“How would one begin to thank each person who has visited, given time, prayed, donated items for auction, donated rands, pounds and dollars in support?”
Melanie said a special thanks needed to go to Lane and Kelly Allan, as well as Jono and Esther Steynberg.
“Their effort and support has been a true demonstration of their caring and compassionate hearts and we as a family are overwhelmed with gratitude.”
