Rotary Port Shepstone hosts another successful family health day

All services and information were provided free of charge.

The Rotary Club of Port Shepstone, together with Ugu health and Madlala clinic, hosted a well-attended Rotary Family Health Day (RFHD) at the Sozabe Hall, in KwaMadlala recently.

The core objective of RFHD is to deliver comprehensive and preventative healthcare services to individuals who may not otherwise have access to it.

Attendees arrive at Sozabe Hall in KwaMadlala.

“This national programme is supported by dedicated Rotarians and volunteers who unite in their humanitarian spirit to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of our individual communities,” said Rotarian Rowan D’Arcy.

Everyone was welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Due to the many accessible services that were available on the day, there were value-added services for everyone, with equal opportunities and respect shown to all.

There was an increased gender-intentional focus at all the events.
All services and information were provided free of charge.

Staff from the National Department of Health and volunteers from the club, together with NGOs and community partners, offered their time and service at the event.

The Minister of Health encouraged the public to attend the RFHD because it brings integrated healthcare services into the communities, as a part of the department’s accelerated health programme.
The campaign gives impetus to the department’s efforts to ensure mass health screenings in a bid to promote healthy lifestyles.

This is a chance for attendees to have their annual health screening done for free and to know their status and overall wellbeing.
This allows for improved management and longevity. A referral system was available for any additional care required.

The RFHD have grown into a remarkable public-and-private-partnership aimed at bridging gaps in healthcare within South Africa.
