Duo walk for peace

Siyanda Dlamini said his journey started two years ago and he has walked to some 856 towns.

Siyanda Dlamini from Madadeni, a founder of the Peace Walk Foundation, was able to experience what Port Shepstone and Margate had to offer during a stopover last week.

Dlamini and his friend Andrew Rusnac from the US are walking across the country for peace and stability.
He said that it was his first time walking along the South Coast and he enjoyed it immensely.
Dlamini started walking two years ago and, so far, has visited 856 towns – all for peace and stability.

“I don’t ask for donations or funds, but accommodation establishments sometimes sponsor a bed and food. We also camp, as we have tents.”

The duo visited Norwegian Settlers Church, Genesis Youth Centre and Hope 4 Africa, where they got an opportunity to speak to other young people about their mission.

They also helped out with community projects and met with teenagers who are doing voluntary work.

“We want to see people become active citizens and develop themselves and their communities,” added Dlamini.

A former musician, his aim now is to spread a message of peace in the country.
He also emphasised that people need to reconnect with God because peace comes from Him.

Along their journey, the duo assists with community projects such as building schools.
The pair walk carrying a South African flag and a placard saying ‘Peace and Stability’.
