Amahle wins R1 000 crossword prize

Cruciverbalist Amahle Fynn, a Grade 8 learner at Port Shepstone High, is the latest person on the coast to have won R1 000 for her efforts in this hobby.
What’s a cruciverbalist, you may ask?

It’s nothing more than a fancy word for someone who likes, or in some cases loves, to do crosswords.
Amahle was delighted to have won the October month Crossword Competition in the South Coast Herald and with it a wonderful prize.

Note, this is separate to the regular crossword in the Herald and involves finding answers for clues hidden in the adverts on that specific page.

Amahle’s English teacher, Robyn Olivant, decided it would be a good idea to have her class do the crossword and enter.
The school bought copies of the paper to allow this to happen.

The result was exciting, with Amahle’s entry being the one pulled from the box via lucky draw.
