Watercolour artist to exhibit

The Margate Art Museum has honoured local fine art artist Graham White in staging a solo exhibition of his exquisite watercolour artworks, themed Through the Ages.

This exhibition runs up to the end of January.

The opening night is today (27th) at 17:30 and is open to all art lovers. Refreshments will be served.
Like most children, Graham enjoyed drawing and painting, but never pursued it till the late 1990s, when he had a vivid dream one night of him painting a giant mural.

His wife saw it as a message from the Great Creator himself and encouraged him to try his hand at painting.
Graham then got into contact with local art club Art by the Sea and he has been a member since. There he discovered that art can be learned and one does not necessarily have to be gifted.

His favourite subject choice is derelict buildings, especially their doors.

“I love the challenge of replicating the textures, colours, tones and shadows of old weathered shacks and run-down houses,” he said.

His attention to detail stems from his involvement in diamond cutting, where he spent his working life, and where precision is paramount.

Most of his paintings are from his own photographs, providing him the benefit of capturing the mood and atmosphere of his subject matter.

As an accomplished artist, Graham’s paintings found forever homes throughout the country as well as in the UK and Italy.
