Art auction triumph for South Coast

Guests and bidders were astonished with the quality of the artworks on auction.

The Art Auction hosted last week by Art by the Sea in the Margate Art Museum was a great success.

For an occasion like this, which was a first for the South Coast, the enthusiasm and lively bidding of the guests indicated the need for such events.

Bidder Samantha Bentley and her son Stjon Podmore check out the paintings on auction. It was good to bring him along – he helped carry home all the paintings on which she had successful bids.
The happy faces of artists Guili Oosthuizen and Albert Campbell are indicative of the atmosphere at the art auction.

Due to this success, the art club plans to have more art auctions in the future, details of which will be made public later.

Guests and bidders were astonished with the quality of the artworks on auction and impressed with the reserve prices of the paintings.

No wonder, then, that the number of paintings which changed hands exceeded the expectations of the Art Club by some way.

Art connoisseur Steve Rouse contemplates his next bid.
