Self-taught designer is an award nominee

Winning will open a new stream of clients for her, as they will gain more confidence in her clothing line.

The Next Billionaire Awards are aimed at acknowledging and encouraging Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises to do their best in their field.

Nominees have been announced for the fourth edition of the awards and they are being profiled on The Next Billionaire Show which airs on 1KZNTV every Tuesday.

There are 34 nominees and all categories are dominated by South Coast businesses.

The founder Lungile Mbili said the categories are: Agriculture, Food and Beverage, Cleaning Services, Skills Development, Arts and Crafts, IT and Technology, Business in Sports, Clothing and Textile, Visual Arts and Businesswoman and Businessman of the Year.

“The awards ceremony will be held at Margate Hotel in November and we expect to see a a variety of fashion styles on show, now that people understand our concept and the theme of our gala dinner. This year we are also supported by Ray Nkonyeni Municipality,” said Mbili.

Gciima-born Phumla Nxumalo from Gamalakhe is one of the nominees in the Clothing and Textile category.
Nxumalo said the nomination is a huge achievement for her. “This is a wow moment for me, I have not been nominated for a clothing or fashion award before. I started designing from a young age, even my matric dance dress while I was at Marburg Secondary,” she added.

The self-taught designer said she has been working hard for over six years in an informal set-up from home. She recently launched her clothing boutique Zibar Clothing which offers ready-to-wear items for all occasions and Zibar Ekhaya which offers ready-to-wear traditional attire.

“Winning this award will open a new stream of clients for me, as they will gain more confidence in my clothing line, once they see me being recognised on such a platform,” she said.
Nxumalo urged the community to support her by voting for her by SMSing TNB 22 to 45633.

Phumla Nxumalo is a nominee in The Next Billionaire’s Awards in the Clothing and Textile category.
