Margate attorney flies flag high in Australia

Sagree Pandaram says she has no plans to emigrate and will continue to manage the firm in Margate.

Sagree Pandaram of Petterson and Pandaram Attorneys in Margate was recently admitted as a lawyer in New South Wales in Australia.

She passed the Legal Profession Admission Board’s academic requirements and studied simultaneously through Charles Sturt University (CSU) and the University of New England, (both in New South Wales) during 2022 and 2023, in order to complete her admission goal timeously.

In February 2023, Sagree passed her final subject, property law (through CSU), and obtained a distinction for the course.

She also obtained a higher distinction (93%) for her case study in property law on Indefeasibility of Title, and her submission will be used as an example by the CSU in property law.

She was granted a full exemption by the Legal Profession Admission Board for their practice requirements due to her practical expertise, and the commendable management of her law firm Petterson and Pandaram Attorneys where she remains in partnership with attorney Robin Petterson in Margate.

She took her oath before Judge President Julie Ward, Acting Justice Griffiths and Justice Kate Williams at the Supreme Court in Sydney, New South Wales. Federal Court judge the Honorable Justice Steven Rares was also present at the ceremony.

Pandaram says she has no plans to emigrate and will continue to manage the firm in Margate.

“Being a dual practitioner, especially in Australasia has been my longstanding professional and personal goal and I’m elated at achieving this. I am grateful to all my family, friends, staff, clients and partner, Robin Petterson for their support.”
