‘New dawn’ for 142 Kelso households

The project is scheduled to be completed within a four-month period from the day of implementation.

The long-awaited electrification project for the Farm Abrahams/Kelso community in Ward 10 has finally reached its implementation stage.

This announcement was made on Tuesday this week by Umdoni leadership who refer to this project as ‘a new dawn’ for the community.

“After endless efforts by Umdoni, this project is finally set to start by the end of September where 142 households will finally have access to electricity,” explained Sphelele Cele, Umdoni’s communications manager.
Deputy mayor Cllr Mthandeni Mbutho and speaker Cllr Mbali Cele-Luthuli visited the community this week, together with Eskom officials.

“We promised the community that we will come back with a solution and we have indeed kept that promise,” said Cele-Luthuli.

Community members present at the announcement meeting were thrilled to finally hear that they will be given electricity soon.
The project is scheduled to be completed within a four-month period from the day of implementation.

“The leadership further gave an instruction to the appointed service provider to ensure that locals benefit from temporary job opportunities availed by this project,” added Cele-Luthuli.

Before ending the meeting, deputy mayor Mbutho urged the community to support the municipality and ensure successful implementation of the project.
