Shopping centre creates happy space for elderly

The centre aims to create a space for all the elderly to have some 'fun time' for themselves and provide opportunities to interact and communicate with others.

With the aim of creating a happy space for all the elderly, Shelly Centre is dedicating the first Tuesday of every month from August 15 to December 5 to senior citizens who can visit the premises and participate in the activities that are specifically curated for them.

The centre said with this initiative, it aims to create a happy space for all the elderly to have some ‘fun time’ for themselves and provide opportunities to interact and communicate with others.

It added that the ongoing campaign is aimed at increasing public awareness of the physical, social and mental well-being of senior citizens and to create an environment that supports them.

The next Forever Young event themes are as follows:
• September 5 – Smile week – local dentist to give a talk on teeth-care and denture-care.
• October 3 – Games day – invite seniors to play various board games and participate in a mini game off.
• November 7 – November knitathon for charity, blankets to be sponsored to a children’s home.
• December 5 – Christmas party – Secret Santa and local school choir to sing Christmas carol.
