Volunteers unite to rebuild communities

Volunteers joined hands and responded to the call of a clean-up campaign in Umzinto

ANC volunteers in the Umdoni sub-region have united towards the rebuilding of the political party and regaining the community’s trust in this area through the resuscitation of basic imperatives of community building.

Volunteers joined hands and responded to the call of a clean-up campaign in Umzinto under Ward 13 last Friday. Volunteers walked throughout the town picking up litter, demonstrating advocacy to keep the local towns clean.

The volunteers proceeded to a door to door campaign at Ntshaseni and Mncindo areas in Ward 1 last Saturday, where various households were visited. The volunteers led by the LET co-ordinator Mbali Cele-Luthuli formally recorded service delivery concerns from the various community members with the view to finding solutions and duly implementing them, to alleviate any burdens to communities.

This community in particular highlighted the issue of electricity in the area. The LET co-ordinator confirmed that work is continuing in this area to complete the electrification project. Work is also being done by Eskom to fix electricity poles in the Dumayo area so that the community has safe electricity.

“Our communities still struggle with lack of provision of basic services,” said Cele-Luthuli.
“We as the ANC have taken heed of the community’s earnest pleas and will ensure that we adopt this area’s electricity project and ensure its successful completion.”

“We strive to uphold the key principles of the freedom charter and in all our engagements as the ANC we advocate for the people to govern, people to have equal rights, share in the wealth of the country, be equal before the law, enjoy equal human rights, work and be secure, have accesses to learning and culture, have dignified houses, security and comfort and enjoy peace and friendship.”
