Support bra collection drive

Giving a bra to someone who doesn't own one, brings back their dignity.

Non-profit, Ignite Revolution in Port Shepstone, has embarked on a drive to collect bras for women and girls in underprivileged communities.

The organisation’s Jessica Naicker said many schoolgirls cannot afford bras.
She said that giving a bra to someone who doesn’t own one, brings back their dignity. They hope to collect as many bras as they can through the drive.

“Many women have bras they no longer use, or they bought a smaller size and it’s lying in their cupboard or they have old bras which are clean and in good condition. The bras will be donated in Nyandezulu, Izingolweni, Masinenge, etc., to girls in dire need,” she said.

As part of the #The Love Agenda, Ignite Revolution has also partnered with Jolene Hooper from the Port Edward Farm Stall, who is also collecting on their behalf.

The team is also running a knitting drive where the community can donate knitted socks, scarves, leg warmers, beanies and gloves as part of their winter warmth campaign.

They also welcome wool and crochet needle donations, so others can crochet.
Hooper said lots of exciting things are happening on their drives. “Thanks to everyone for their donations. We also need hand lotion, shower gel and shampoo in small bottles, as well as sanitary pads, roll-on and other toiletries.”

“Additionally, we need pre-loved handbags to pack all the items in, along with blankets, clothing, shoes, socks, books, dishes and curtains. Thanks to those who have already donated, we appreciate it,” Cooper concluded.

To donate, contact Jolene on 079 0594648 or Jessica on 078 6514574.
