Influencer empowers community warriors
Nonkululeko Madondo is a finalist in the Mrs Grand South Africa pageant.
In celebration of Women’s Day, KZN influencer Nonkululeko Madondo has decided to share some of the highlights of her year so far, as a motivation to other women like her in the South Coast and Durban.
Also known as Dr Angiyukweswela, Nonkululeko has made a big name for herself in Scottburgh in particular because of all the non-profit work she has been doing here through her Angiyukweswela Therapy Foundation which focuses on gender equality.
About two months ago, she was named as one of the finalists in the Mrs Grand South Africa pageant. Voting lines are still open until August 31. SMS Africa 609 to 47439 to vote and the finals will be held on October 28 in Johannesburg.
In order to thank her KZN supporters, she recently held a Community Service Awards ceremony in Durban, South Beach.
“It was also in conjunction with my birthday and I celebrated it by empowering community warriors to keep doing great jobs,” she explained.
Local award recipients included Lindokuhle Mbili from Umzinto, the founder of Siyaphambili Women Empowerment Organisation and journalist Vanisha Moodley from the South Coast Herald for helping spread word about Nonkululeko’s work in the South Coast.
Nonkululeko was also just nominated as an Inspirational Woman of the year for the Kuhlerize Durban based organisation.
“I feel so humbled by being nominated among lot of women in KZN who work for the community and I just thank God,” she said.
The winner will be announced in November.
“It really humbles me a lot for such achievements and I am also grateful for changing people’s lives far and wide and being able to give them hope either in person or through my social media.”
“On Women’s Day, be respectful, show humanity, confidence and independence because this is what us women need to show, especially to the youth, and lead by example.”
