Winter drive still going strong

Local women made blankets and beanies for hospice patients.

There was much joy at Umkomaas’s Khanya Hospice last week after staff received hand-made blankets and beanies for their patients.
This was done through a knit/crochet-a-thon by women from around the South Coast.

“They brought their own wool and needles and just started knitting and crocheting, also making it a great social event,” said Neil McDonald, CEO of Khanya Hospice.

Neil thanked everyone involved, and gives a special shout out to Elaine Trotter, a member of hospice and the Toti Methodist Church who kindly organised this fundraiser and donated R8000 to Khanya Hospice.
After all the hard work, the talented group were treated to tea, coffee and scrumptious breyani donated by Su Govender.

“Winter is here, and we will make sure our patients are not going to get cold thanks to these incredible new gifts,” added Sr Mariane Visagie.
