Exciting new developments taking place in and around Margate

Margate is proving to be one of the most improved and safest areas, and this has been the doing of all stakeholders, according to Stephen Herbst of Tidy Towns.

A lot of very exciting and positive growth has been happening in the South Coast’s capital Margate, of late.

This comes ahead of Margate being voted as a finalist in the Kwela Dorp van die Jaar competition. The results of this competition is now anxiously awaited.

The ‘let’s put Margate back on the map’ attitude has become catchy with owners of buildings, restaurants and holiday accommodation getting behind the ‘Tidy Towns concept’ by renovating and painting their properties to ensure they look good.

Renovations are popping up all over Margate.

Passionate about Margate is Stephen Herbst of Tidy Towns Shelly Beach to Margate, who said the public-private partnership is fantastic to see.

He was driving around the seaside town earlier today and was blown away by the latest developments.

Herbst said he has to thank the sterling efforts of the Margate Community Police Forum (CPF), headed by chairman Jan van Niekerk and his team, who are making great strides in the town to sort out petty crime.

Maintenance to buildings are making a wonderful difference to the town of Margate.

“Further thanks to the partnerships of security companies, Saps, Law Enforcement, and the business/private sector,” he said.

Herbst said Margate is proving to be one of the most improved and safest areas, and this has been the doing of all stakeholders.

“Thank you to the body corporates and managing agents that have been instrumental in the beautification of their properties, and the roadside verges. The difference is phenomenal. We hope to encourage our municipality for a promenade upgrade, as we can all agree it’s long overdue.”
Let’s all work together, Herbst said if everyone keeps their verges clean and driveways well maintained, it gives off a great impression to the area.
