Margate and Sheppie cops recover two stolen vehicles on same day

Both vehicles were towed to the Saps pound where the Vehicle Crime Investigating Unit will continue the investigations.

Members of Saps Margate were performing patrols last Sunday when they received information of a suspected stolen vehicle along Seaslopes Road, Manaba.

Police spokesman Sergeant Sbu Ncane said the vehicle had been reported stolen at Durban Central police station earlier this month.

Police stopped the VW silver hatchback and arrested a 34-year-old man, who is expected to make his first court appearance soon.

On the same day, members of Saps Port Shepstone were performing crime prevention duties when they spotted a possible stolen vehicle (info had earlier been circulated).

A 38-year-old man was arrested after failing to produce proof of ownership.

The vehicle, a black VW hatchback was checked and it was revealed that it had been stolen in Berea, Durban during April 2023.

Both vehicles were towed to the Saps pound where the Vehicle Crime Investigating Unit will continue the investigations.
