Rescue buoys assist in saving lives

Do not tamper with these rescue buoys.

An NSRI Pink Rescue Buoy has been installed at Widenham Beach in the mid-South Coast area.

This rescue buoy was kindly donated by the family of their loved one, Alex, who frequented the area but sadly died earlier this year.

These rescue buoys are doing a fantastic job at their strategic locations along the coast and inland waters, and have already assisted in saving the lives of over 150 swimmers since the project was initiated in 2017.

As per NSRI, the public is urged to notify their local NSRI station or Saps immediately if they see someone with or tampering with a Pink Rescue Buoy, as by stealing a rescue buoy, they are jeopardising someone’s life.
