Ward 19 electricity woes resolved

According to Cllr George Henderson, repairs were completed last Friday as promised by Eskom and the residents have been reconnected to a main substation.

After a community meeting was held with Ward 19 residents and Cllr George Henderson at St Michaels Beach last Thursday, electricity issues affecting the area have been resolved.

The residents had complained that during loadshedding they had to go an extra hour without power as a result of surges at an electrical box, connecting residents in St Michaels, Uvongo and Manaba.

Cllr Henderson confirmed that Eskom had promised to resolve the issues last Friday, after repairs had been completed on the main Pioneer Road substation.

“Repairs were completed on Friday as promised by Eskom and the residents have been reconnected to the Pioneer Road substation. The substation was undergoing an upgrade which resulted in the power boxes being unable to handle the pressure after loadshedding. It has all been sorted out,” said Henderson

However, he said there are two blocks which are still experiencing longer hours of power outages as a result of a stolen cable.

“Eskom has promised to have the cable repaired as soon as possible,” Henderson concluded.
