Kennel club provides wagging good fun

The fee is nominal and the exercise is free.

Happiness, joy, friendship, sunshine and great agility were in abundance at the Hibiscus Kennel Club recently. A few challenges were thrown in that had the handlers having to think outside the box and the dogs deciding that they knew best but great rounds were had with more than a few qualifications. Congratulations and thank you to judges Heather Moorcroft and Tanya Engelbrecht for great courses.

An exciting new veteran’s course for dogs who can no longer jump to competition standard as well as tunnel mania saw dogs zooming from one tunnel to the next at great speed. As this was the first veteran’s course there were only three entries but certainly more dogs will be entered at the next show. They may be a bit arthritic but in their hearts they are still young and miss that excitement and their handlers’ praise at the end of a round.

Saturday training is great fun with obedience hoopers and agility being offered to all dogs. Welcome to two new instructors in training Janine Badenhorst and Sandy Lange. Janine is proving to be an excellent instructor and Sandy has some experience with Rottweilers and will soon be available to help out.

Elsie Pretorius is well known on the coast for her karate expertise so she knows exactly how to instruct a class. So if you have a dog needing to be taught a few manners or needing some exercise, Hibiscus Kennel Club is the place to be. The fee is nominal and the exercise is free. Everybody goes home tired but happy after an afternoon in the fresh air.
