Caravan club does its share for hospice

Hospice needs donations and volunteers to help continue the free services it offers.

Ronald and Rose King, members of the Penny Pinchers of KZN Caravan Club, recently visited Khanya Hospice to hand over funds collected by the club for the NGO.

Secretary, Rose explained that the Penny Pinchers are a group of campers who arrange three week-long caravan camps per year at Karridene Caravan Park, for all pensioners and retirees who would like to come along and enjoy good company and the fellowship of like-minded people.

The club incorporates caravanners throughout KwaZulu-Natal – from Richards Bay to Margate and inland, and some further afield.
Over the past year, from their three outings, an amount of R1 640 was collected from their church services and donations and it was decided that this amount would be given to the hospice in Umkomaas for the free palliative nursing care that it provides on the Upper South Coast.

Hospice staff were grateful to the club for this amazing donation and hopes that it encourages other clubs, businesses and individuals to think of them when fundraising.

“A big thank you to everyone that has contributed,” said Neil McDonald, CEO of Khanya Hospice.
