Saps operation in Ezinqoleni results in arrest, plus recovery of firearm

The firearm will be sent for ballistic testing to determine if it was used in the commission of other crimes.

The battle against the increase in unlicensed firearms and ammunition is ongoing. To fight this, members of Saps Ezinqoleni and Highway Patrol conducted an operation at Bandlana Ward in Ezinqoleni last week.

“During this operation, a 40-year old man was arrested after his residence in Ezinqoleni was searched, resulting in the recovery of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” said police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge.

The man will appear in the Ezinqoleni Magistrate’s Court on the charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of unlicensed ammunition.

The firearm will be sent for ballistic testing to determine if it has been used in the commission of other crimes.
