World trials in Czech Republic for In Motion dancers

Dancers will represent the country in Chomutov, Czech in June.

Five local dancers from In Motion Dance Academy in Southbroom have qualified to participate in the World Trial Circuit Disco Championships in Chomutov in the Czech Republic, from June 23 to 25.

The dancers had to compete in various national and local championships to qualify for the World Trial in the past years. The final and qualifying championship was the South African Freestyle and Disco Dance Championship held in Gauteng last November, where Shae Herbst, Tatum Krishna, Ella Spittal, Kira Attfield and Chizette Pretorius made it through.

Dance coach Talita Helberg said she was overwhelmed and surprised by the dancers’ achievements, and that they had qualified. “The process to qualify is stringent as there are so many dancers competing from around the country. “These dancers are committed to what they do. Most of them dance a minimum of six hours per week and often have to sacrifice their weekends to put in extra time. As a teacher I am blessed to have them,” said Talita.
