A collision between a vehicle and truck left a motorist entrapped, with serious injuries, on the R61 near Southbroom at about 05:00.

Chantell Botha of Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service said that when emergency services arrived they quickly assessed the scene and found the driver of the vehicle had serious injuries and was stuck in the vehicle.

Paramedics, together with Ray Nkonyeni Fire and Rescue Services, worked to extricate the driver from the vehicle by using specialised rescue equipment.

The injured person was treated on scene before being transported to hospital.
