WARNING: Rotten animal thrown at motorist’s car near Umgababa

The motorist feels the attack on her vehicle could have resulted in a nasty accident.

Motorist Dot van Zyl from Umtentweni had a harrowing experience while driving on the N2 near Umgababa on Wednesday (Jan 18) this week.

A dead animal was thrown at her window.

Van Zyl was travelling from Durban to the South Coast when she noticed a man standing in the centre island on the N2.

At firstly she didn’t think much of it, as she thought the person was selling golf balls – which is a common sight along this stretch of road.

“I was driving at 120km and next minute I saw him swing his arm back and then forward (to throw the dead animal at my car),” she said.

The rotten animal landed on the windscreen and left a splattered mess on the passenger side of the windscreen, where her daughter was sitting.

Van Zyl feels that the motive behind the incident, which happened before 11:00, was either to get her to swerve or to stop her vehicle.

She said the stench was unbearable and thanked the staff at the car wash for going the extra mile to clean her car.

“I am warning people to be careful and it would be helpful if the traffic department can patrol this stretch of road,” she said.
