Boy (7) drowns at Glenmore beach

SAPS search and rescue conducted a search and found the body.

Yanga Nkasa (7) was found dead at Glenmore beach last Wednesday.

The family had visited the beach on Tuesday.

His mother Noyolile Nkasa (27) said she had asked him to fetch his sibling but he did not return.

“We noticed him missing at about 13:00.”

Lifeguards conducted a search and then contacted the police.

Nkasa said they looked for her son until late on Tuesday but only found him floating in the water, the next day.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Sibu Ncane confirmed a missing person’s case was opened at Port Edward police station.

“In the early hours of January 11 a search was conducted and a seven year old boy’s body was found.”

The body was taken to Port Shepstone state mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Port Edward police have opened an inquest case.
