UPDATE: Scottburgh beach reopens after temporary closure on December 22

The beach was closed yesterday due to a high Ecoli reading.

UPDATE (December 23):
According to a statement issued by Umdoni Municipality today (December 23), Scottburgh beach has been reopened to the public for swimming and recreational activities.
“Recent test results show that it is safe for use.” – Umdoni communications.
ORIGINAL STORY (December 22):
Umdoni Municipality informs the community and holidaymakers of the temporary closure of lagoons, estuaries, rivers and Scottburgh beach for any recreational activities.
“The closure of these water courses is as a result of load shedding and erratic rainfall patterns that are causing fluctuation of the Ecoli counts of rivers and lagoons.” – said the municipality via a statement issued on social media.
Contact with water from these sources is prohibited until further notice as they currently pose a potential health risk.
