Tidy Towns gets a ‘woof woof’ for helping kennel club

The club's field was ruined by the devastating floods that KZN experienced in April this year.

Hibiscus Kennel Club was super excited when Tidy Towns Port Shepstone and Tidy Towns Shelly to Margate came to the rescue, to help rehabilitate its field.

The Hibiscus Kennel Club is a non-profit working club affiliated with the Kennel Union of South Africa.

Tidy Towns started the first phase last week which included aggressive aerating of the field, the spreading of lime to balance the pH levels, 5-1-5 and fertilisers to accelerate grass growth and a fine haircut of the grass afterwards with a gyro mower roller.

Farmer Scott Kvalsvig of Tidy Towns Shelly to Margate always goes the extra mile to help the community.

Shamin Maharaj of Tidy Towns Port Shepstone and Scott Kvalsvig of Tidy Towns Shelly to Margate and their awesome teams have to be thanked.

For those that don’t know the history – the club’s field was ruined by the devastating floods that KZN experienced in April this year.

Despite best efforts, the sludge that flooded the field from the river dried and became hard and they couldn’t practise any of their dog sport disciplines or hold any of their dog shows on home ground, as it could have resulted in fractures for both handlers and their dogs, and every time it rained the field became slippery and dangerous as the water couldn’t drain.

The club said that words cannot express how deeply they appreciate it. “We salute you all as it is truly uplifting and heart-warming to see the goodwill and generosity of spirit provided by your teams towards our community.

We thank you (and our dogs thank you) for your generous sponsorship, as we are now able to continue to provide a service to our community.”
