Music, sun and fun

The summer is magic and it's all systems go for the KZN South Coast.

With all the beaches open for bathing, the KZN South Coast has loads of awesome events planned for everyone in December and into early January.

Don’t miss the rocking Summer Festival of Live Music at The Spot Backpackers in Umtentweni this Saturday, December 10 from 14:00 onwards.

There is a fantastic line-up of bands such as SA Idols finalist and contemporary singer and guitarist, Erin Fourie, 4 Beats and a Bar, Chewing the Hornet, Ian Jones and Pie Squared.

There will also be a junior beach soccer compo (contact Lindy on 083 557979), bowls trips compo (contact Rastus on 072 636069), and a family social fishing compo (contact Gareth on 071 4856252 or Pete on 083 2850739). All proceeds go to Tweni Tidy Towns.

On another exciting note, the KZN South Coast has launched its I Love Summer festive season programme with fun activities taking place along the KZN South Coast beaches and hinterland locations from December 9 to January 3, 2023 (except Christmas and New Year’s days) from 10:00 to 14:00 daily.

The events will be held at the following beaches: Wild Coast Sun Waterpark, Southbroom Main Beach, Port Edward Main Beach, St Michael’s Main Beach, Ramsgate Main Beach, Margate/Lucien Main Beach, Scottburgh Main Beach, Southport/Sunwichport Main Beaches, Hibberdene Main Beach and Marina Main Beach.
The hinterland venues are: Mzukelwa Primary School in Umuziwabantu, Ntelezi Msani in Mtwalume, KwaXolo Cave Adventures in KwaXolo near Margate, KwalaTshoda Hall in KwaNzimakwe and at Uvongo Town Hall.

“Being home to the highest number of Blue Flag beaches in the province, world-class dive sites, as well as great fishing and surfing, the KZN South Coast has always been a popular summer holiday destination. This is made even more special with the I Love Summer holiday programme that has something for the whole family to enjoy,” said Phelisa Mangcu, CEO of South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise.

“The KZN South Coast offers visitors a variety of accommodation options for all budgets, with fantastic outdoor activities from the beach to the hinterland,” she said.

The only concern is the water shortages residents are currently facing from Ramsgate to Hibberdene.
Ugu District Municipality has reassured residents that it is working hard to restore the affected areas.

For those visiting the coast – don’t panic! Most holiday accommodation places are equipped with water tanks to ensure they are prepared for the season, dry or not!
