Thunee triumph for Phoenix ‘Ballies’

The Thunee competition was well supported by both men and women.

Visitors claimed the top prize in the hotly contested Thunee competition played at the Wild Coast Sun Hotel and Casino Resort last Saturday.

Reuben Soobiah and Nad Subramoney from Phoenix – team Well Wishes – walked away with the R15 000 prize.

The cool, calm, cool and collected ‘ballies’ – as they were affectionately nicknamed – said they love the game and were grateful that such a competition had been made possible.

Robson Moodley and Leonard Khan from Playthunee.

They have both been playing Thunee for many years, but only in the past two years have they teamed up.
It’s not the first major competition they’ve won, so clearly it’s a combination that’s working.

On the local front, Manojkumar Lautan and Aashish Lautan – team Lautan 1 – claimed second place and a prize of R10 000.
The father-and-son team gave the winners a real challenge, having been strong contenders from the start.

This year’s tournament was some what different as the game went live on the Playthunee app.

Organiser Anandh Perumal thanked the sponsors and players for making the event a success.

“The competition has really grown and become very popular at the resort. It was supported, with both men and women taking part.”
