Margate cops remove R100 000 worth of drugs off streets

Two foreign nationals were arrested.

The Margate Drug task Team continues to make a dent in the drug trade in the CBD and surrounding areas of Margate. Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge said the team conducted regular stop and search operations which resulted in a man (41) being arrested for being in possession of 15 heroin capsules last week Friday (November 18).

As the police members were reporting off duty, reliable information led them to a residence in Seaslopes, Uvongo where two foreign nationals, aged 36 and 35, were arrested. A plastic bag containing crystal meth to the street value of R91 600 and small plastic bags containing cocaine and methcathinone (Cat) to the value of R8600 were recovered.

All three suspects will appear in court soon on charges of possession of drugs and dealing in drugs. Ugu District Commissioner Major General Sethenya Nxamagele said she was pleased with the arrest and recovery and warned drug dealers that SAPS is resolute in targeting the drug trade within the district.
