Man tracked down after firearm discharged in public in Ezinqolweni

Drugs, ammunition and a gun were retrieved from the man.

A man (36) who discharged a firearm in a public place in Ezinqolweni two Sundays ago, has been arrested and is currently in police custody.

He is also facing charges of possession of firearm without a license, possession of ammunition, possession of drugs.

The man had apparently been driving a Mazda Drifter at the time of the incident.

Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge said members of SAPS Ezinqoleni Crime Prevention and Port Shepstone Public Order Policing (POP) proceeded to the scene.

On the way, they spotted the vehicle matching the description given to them.

The man’s car was searched and police found 73 tablets (drugs).

They also found a .38 special with four rounds, four empty cartridges, one 9mm round, and three 9mm blank rounds.
