Umzinto Primary’s class of 1990 donates to hospice

The donation was made in support of breast cancer awareness.

Khanya Hospice received a generous donation from Umzinto Primary School’s class of 1990 which supported the Pink Tree Drive for breast cancer awareness.

An amount of R2500 was handed over to CEO Neil McDonald recently.

“It is heart warming to know that there are still people with wonderful, giving hearts,” said Neil.
“With this donation, they are making it possible for the hospice nursing staff to go out and see very sick patients at home, and if they have a need, provide them with the necessary medication and medical equipment, offer them counselling and explain to the family how to deal with terminally ill patients at home.”

“This donation will go a long way.”

Hospice also received a donation of R7479 from St Francis Primary School in Park Rynie recently.
This donation was made after the school participated in Breast Cancer Awareness month, and to show appreciation for the work that hospice is doing in the community.

Neil was humbled by the wonderful donation, which was double the amount raised last year.

He was informed that the school staff went all out this year to get donations from family and friends too.
“This donation will go a long way and I thank St Francis School’s principal, learners and staff,” said Neil.
