Shoppers flock to new MB SuperSpar in Sheppie CBD

Hundreds flock to grand opening of MB SuperSpar in Port Shepstone CBD last Wednesday.

MB SuperSpar Port Shepstone opened its doors to much fanfare on October 26. The store is well located within the Port Shepstone CBD and boasts being the only store within the CBD precinct to provide large parking facilities that are safe, secure and guarded 24/7.

This coupled with the taxi rank being less than 200m away provides customers with easy access to the rank. MB SuperSpar will be providing free transport to shoppers, to and from the new temporary rank that will be operational for the next two years.

The store also caters to the fresh needs of consumers, with a fully serviced in-house butchery, bakery, deli and fresh produce department.

Mpendulo Siyabonga Cele, the floor supervisor says that shelves have been restocked since the influx of customers over the past week, with over 20 000 people walking through the doors in just six days.

Nqaba Belewa, Spar Development Manager stated that a SuperSpar store in the Port Shepstone CBD was long overdue and is delighted by the response received from the community. “We opted to be located outside the newly developing shopping centre in the rank rather than inside for various reasons, but mainly to provide customers with a direct access parking to the store, and knowing that customers love to walk outside when visiting a town rather than remaining in a rank shopping centre. Going to town is all about spending the day out for our people, and this store provides them a great space to do just that.”

Moosa Bux, a longstanding Spar retailer member, insists that this was a people’s project, and he thanks the community and staff for their ongoing support, and pledges to always cater to the community’s needs.
This store was a wonderful opportunity to provide over 85 direct jobs to the local community, and to provide career growth opportunities for longstanding employees.

“The store has been set-up beautifully, so that people have a relaxing and enjoyable shopping experience. We are fully operational during loadshedding, and have facilities for all monthly bill payments. A Capitec ATM will also be installed soon. We have taken the old Rhino store and brought it back to life.”
Moosa thanked the Spar management and executive team for their support.
