Illegal dumping raises ire of Marburg residents

The issue has been addressed with the ward councillor on numerous occasions, but to no avail.

The sight of refuse bags containing leftover food dumped at Deepvale Park, Marburg has once again highlighted the ongoing issue of illegal dumping in the area.

Resident, Selvan Moodley called on the Herald frustrated about the illegal dumping which has become a huge problem.

“The flies and the smell are health hazards, and this is not the first time this has happened. Residents are frustrated as we pay rates and the municipality and health department are silent about this, and in the meantime the entire Marburg area is looking terrible with illegal dumping.”

Deepvale Park, Marburg is an eyesore.

Moodley has addressed the issue with the ward councillor numerous times and made contact with cleaning services to clean up the area. Its been three weeks now, and the site has not been cleaned.

A query was sent to Simon April, spokesperson of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, however no response was received before going to press.
