Fisherman stabbed in chest, another has car stolen

The two incidents have happened within a week.

Reports have surfaced of two men, in two separate incidents, allegedly being attacked when leaving the beach after fishing in the Margate and Ramsgate area.

The first incident is believed to have taken place in Panorama Road in Margate (on the boarder of Ramsgate) where a man was robbed, stabbed and his vehicle stolen.

In the second incident, a fisherman was stabbed in the chest late yesterday afternoon, while in Shale Road in Ramsgate.

Wessel Pretorius, of AfriForum Community Safety, said the man had been fishing and was leaving the beach when the incident happened.

Pretorius warned residents and visitors alike to take care when walking alone and advised that one should leave valuables at home, especially cellphones.

“Report any incidents to law enforcement and on WhatsApp groups so the community may be alerted of any concerns around safety and security,” he said.

Official confirmation is awaited from the police.
