Mtwalume talent is grateful for community’s support

His love for acting and singing started at a young age when he received a lot of support from his community and later ended up getting a role on television.

Mtwalume-born Mnqobi Mhlongo has appeared in various telenovelas such as Durban Gen and Uzalo, and has also received a lot of support from his community.

He thanks everyone who has been part of his journey, especially his late parents and grandparents Lydia and Dumisani Khati, for standing by him from the beginning.

The aspiring actor and musician said his dream is to one day build a career in both acting and music, as well as develop other aspiring artists on the coast.

“My community from eTsheni in the Makhoso area has contributed a lot to my journey. They see potential in me, which gives me so much pleasure. As a young boy in the community I am honoured to be invited by schools, churches and families to perform at their events.

“Even though sometimes I am not paid to perform but the recognition is the best reward one can ask for,” Mhlongo added.

He said when he started he sang Kwaito, however now he can sing any genre.

“I currently do not belong to any agency and do not have a manager, but I am part of a trio or group with my two friends Nkazimulo Ndwandwe and Andile Nyawose and together we are called Art Explosion.

“We were never taught how to act or sing but just formed a group to avoid being on the streets and also had a passion for art. We are looking to go a lot further,” Mhlongo added.
